[CGMZ] Lore for RPG Maker MZ

Hi all, introducing [CGMZ] Lore!

This plugin adds a book system to your game. Allow the player to collect lore books or even individual pages in the lore books, which they can then read from the lore scene at any time.

Lore Scene

This plugin adds a comprehensive lore scene which has two parts to it: book select, and page reading. During book select, the player will see their collected books in the book select list window, and the book's cover in the book cover window. Once the player selects a book in the list, they will then be able to read the book's pages. They can use page up/down functionality to flip the pages in the book.

Collectability

Each book can be discovered or undiscovered, which determines if it appears in the lore scene. On top of that, each individual page can also be discovered or undiscovered separately. You can show certain text when the page has not been discovered yet. In the gif above, the 3rd and 4th page are not discovered so they show text about being ripped out. Once the player discovers the pages, they would see the full page contents instead.

Easy Design

Book Covers and Pages are created by setting up your text, image, and header elements in the plugin parameters. Then you can use a simple drag & drop parameter to choose in which order the elements are displayed. This allows you to totally design each book and page uniquely, while still being no-code and simple to use.

Integrations

This plugin has integrations with the following [CGMZ] Plugins:

[CGMZ] Toast Manager - Show a toast when a book or page is discovered, and also when a book is completed (all pages discovered).

[CGMZ] Scene Backgrounds - Show a custom background for the lore scene, including scrolling images or even weather.

[CGMZ] Controls Window - Show the player the controls to read books. You can have separate controls for book selection & page flipping parts of the scene. Controls automatically adjust to keyboard & mouse or gamepad depending on player input, and even works with different gamepad brands (xbox players see xbox controls, playstation players see ps controls).

[CGMZ] Window Settings - Change common window settings for lore windows, including padding, windowskin, tone, and more.

[CGMZ] Window Backgrounds - Add a background image to any lore window, including animated scrolling parallax images.

Roadmap

I plan to expand this plugin by adding more lore scene customization options, including things like categories and book & page-specific integrations for total customization. I also plan to add rewards for collecting books and some more features around the collectathon aspect of this plugin. I would love to hear feedback on which type of feature you are looking forward to most so I know what to prioritize working on ❤️
